The Manitoba Young Greens (MBYG) is a special unit of the Green Party of Manitoba run by and for the party’s youth members. It was founded in 2021 as the product of an entirely youth led and organized initiative to imagine how to build up the GPM as the Party for Youth in Manitoba. The central purpose of the MBYG is to actively promote and pursue the views, needs, and interests of progressive Youth from Manitoba both within the GPM and in Manitoba politics and activism more broadly.
The MBYG Council the official governance body of the MBYG and is responsible to oversee the operations of the MBYG between Youth General Meetings, held annually. the MBYG Council consists of 15 at-large positions, currently elected annually. Roles such as Co-Chairs, Youth Representatives, and project coordinators are currently appointed from within the council on an as-needed basis. The MBYG Council is in the process of developing complete Bylaws to govern the structure, operations, and election procedures for the Council and the MBYG at large.
