What is the Vegan Greens Caucus?

The Green Party of Manitoba (GPM) has subgroups or “caucuses” that focus on specific interest areas. The Vegan Greens Caucus is comprised of GPM members who are vegan or in transition to becoming vegan.

What Does the Caucus Do?

The Vegan Greens focus on promoting the many important reasons for, and benefits of, being vegan:
For the Animals
For Our Health and
For the Environment

We do this in a number of ways.

First, we work on developing vegan-related policies, involving animal well-being, health and environmental issues. These policy resolutions are formally presented to all GPM members for discussion and ultimately for approval and adoption into GPM’s policy book and platform.

Secondly, the Vegan Greens advocate for veganism through community outreach, public discourse and political engagement. Education and communication are key pillars of our work.

When & Where Do We Meet?

We meet regularly online and from time to time in person at local vegan restaurants. We also have a dedicated section on Green Chat, the GPM’s web-based discussion platform.

Do We Work With Other Groups?

Indeed, we collaborate with other local, national and international organizations, and recognized professionals in the field. Our vast global vegan network gives us access to the latest research, data and expertise.

How Can You Get Involved?

First, become a member of GPM. Then contact us at info@greenparty.mb.ca indicating your interest in becoming part of the Vegan Greens Caucus. Soon afterwards, we’ll get in touch and welcome you to the Caucus!

What is a Vegan?

“Veganism is a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude—as far as is possible and practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose;

And by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of animals, humans and the environment.

In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals.”
