Meagan Jemmett grew up in Halifax, Nova Scotia. As a student, she excelled academically and competed in martial arts at an international level. Meagan spent her free time hiking, kayaking, and exploring beaches and provincial parks with her family.
In 2009, Meagan moved to Edmonton to attend the University of Alberta. She earned a Bachelor of Arts with First Class Honours while working full-time as a line cook, fitness advisor, retail worker, martial arts instructor, and banquet server.
In 2013, Meagan earned her law degree from the University of Toronto, graduating with High Honours in Criminal Law and Trial Advocacy. She first practised law in Thunder Bay, Ontario, where she helped economically disadvantaged clients navigate the criminal and family law systems. She also got involved in community events such as the Terry Fox Run and Thunder Bay Pride.
In early 2017, Meagan moved to Thompson to focus on criminal law. She is currently working as a partner at Jemmett Jack Barristers & Solicitors. Meagan is proud to serve as a strong advocate for her clients.
Meagan joined the Green Party of Manitoba because it is the only party offering real solutions to challenges such as the climate emergency, economic inequality, and the declining quality of health care in the North. Despite facing the brunt of these challenges, Northern Manitoba is too often on the back burner in provincial politics. As your MLA, Meagan would advocate for investments in health care, green jobs, and environmentally sustainable infrastructure for Northern communities.
