Conservation is the key: Greens speak truth on energy in Manitoba
GREENS SUPPORT:
- A new mandate for Manitoba Hydro:
- rename Manitoba Hydro, “Manitoba Energy”
- reduce energy consumption through various programs of incentives and disincentives;
- explore and implement renewable forms of energy beyond hydroelectric power (wind, solar, and other forms of micro-generation).
- require the installation of renewable micro-generation systems in all new residential homes;
- create an independent, citizen-driven commission/task force to assess the effects of past hydroelectric dams in Northern Manitoba and the potential future impact of more dams.
