Jeff Buhse | St. James candidate for the Green Party of Manitoba
Jeff Buhse is a climate policy analyst and Green Party candidate running for MLA in the riding of St. James. Jeff is currently employed at the University of Manitoba in Student Accessibility Services as the Assistive Technologist. In this position he works with students with disabilities, helping to remove barriers to learning, ensuring all course material is available in an accessible format, and educating the university community in producing accessible documents as part of the mandate of the Accessibility for Manitoban’s Act. Jeff has significant experience working with policies, procedures, and legislation in his work setting, but has also volunteered on a number of different boards for community choirs, his church, and is currently an active member on the National Church Council of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada.
Jeff sits on the Lutheran World Federation Working Group on Climate Justice which has afforded him the opportunity to participate in many United Nations climate change conferences, including Paris this past December. Participating in these high-level policy discussions has provided Jeff with a breadth of experience in working with governments, policies, and navigating political discourse.
Jeff’s wife owns a thriving business based in St. James and they see first-hand the importance of having a diverse economy that supports small, local businesses within Manitoba.
Jeff has always loved the outdoors and with his experiences with the United Nations, he feels it is time that governments across Canada take strong steps in protecting our planet and move to a much more sustainable way of life.
